Google Instant Launches
Google has launched its latest search addition. Google Instant works by searching as you type into Googles search box, filtering search results as you type. In practice, its very fast but has a few major draw backs. For a start, I never heard anyone complaining that searching Google was slow. I’ve never had a problem. Once you’ve typed your search in, you still have to press enter to look through the results. And the biggest set back maybe, what about people who don’t actually use Googles home page to search? Most browsers now have a search box built in that saves having to go to search engines in the first place.
This to me looks like Google doing another thing simply because it can. Whether this actually adds to the search experiences is something we’ll see over time.
MSN Video Player to get Paramount Movies
Miscosoft has announce they are teaming up with Paramount Pictures to show full length movies on its MSN Video Player service. Initially they will be available in the UK before appearing on MSN’s other European sites.
This is great news as film download sites have been very thing on the ground in the UK with only iTunes and Playstation Network currently offering services. (Although LoveFilm.com does offer a basic streaming service)
With franchises like Transformers, Indiana Jones and Star Trek, this could be a very lucrative deal for both companies.
